To remove the intake manifold, first relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Next, remove the engine cover, air intake duct, and resonator, then detach the vent hose from the throttle body. Disconnect the throttle cable and the wiring from the MAP and IAT sensors, clamp off the coolant hoses connected to the throttle body, and disconnect them. Also, disconnect the brake booster hose and the PCV hose. For 2007 and earlier models, relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the fuel supply hose from the fuel rail, then remove the fuel rail along with the injectors before taking off the intake manifold with the throttle body. For installation, clean the mating surfaces of the intake manifold and cylinder head mounting surface with brake system cleaner, checking the gasket for leaks and the manifold for warpage. Install the manifold and gasket over the studs on the cylinder head, tightening the manifold-to-cylinder head nuts/bolts in three or four equal steps to the specified torque, working from the middle bolts outward to avoid flexing. Reinstall the remaining parts in reverse order, check the coolant level and add as necessary, then run the engine to check for coolant and vacuum leaks. Finally, road test the vehicle to ensure proper operation of all accessories, including the cruise control system if equipped.
