- Q: How to Remove and Install the Carburetor and Intake Manifold on 2011 and earlier Hyundai Accent?A: For carbureted models, begin by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery and draining the cooling system. Remove the air cleaner, label and disconnect all hoses, wires, brackets, and emission lines connected to the carburetor and intake manifold, ensuring to disconnect the solenoid control valve connector and emission control valves. Disconnect the fuel lines from the carburetor, cap the fittings, and detach the throttle cable. Remove the cable running from the carburetor to the transaxle and the cruise control cable if applicable. Unbolt and remove the intake manifold, tapping it gently if it sticks, and clean the mating surfaces thoroughly. For installation, use a new gasket for the manifold, tightening the nuts in stages from the center out, and reinstall the remaining parts in reverse order. Add coolant, run the engine, and check for leaks. For fuel-injected models, relieve the fuel system pressure, disconnect the battery cable, and drain the cooling system. Disconnect the air temperature sensor, MAF sensor, and air duct from the air cleaner and throttle body, then remove the intake duct. Mark and disconnect all hoses and wiring from the upper intake manifold and throttle body, disconnect the Idle Speed Actuator as necessary, and remove the throttle body. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation hose and brake servo vacuum hose, then disconnect the fuel feed and return lines from the fuel rail, along with the electrical connectors from the fuel injectors. Remove the fuel rail, injectors, and pressure regulator as an assembly, ensuring to cover all openings to prevent contamination. Unbolt and remove the intake plenum support bracket, then remove the intake plenum and gasket. For earlier models, disconnect the wiring from the engine temperature sensors, remove the thermostat, distributor, ignition coil, and power transistor as needed, then unscrew the intake manifold bolts and detach it from the engine. For installation, follow the reverse order of removal, checking for damage on manifold studs, ensuring clean mating surfaces, and using a new gasket. Reconnect hoses to their original positions, refill the cooling system, and adjust the accelerator and kickdown cables as required.
