Before battery-disconnecting procedures, ensure anti-theft radio activation code availability. For removal, on 1.8L, 2012 and earlier 2.0L, and 2017 and later 2.0L Multiport Fuel Injection (MPI) models: Relieve fuel system pressure, disconnect negative battery cable, disconnect vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator, disconnect main injector harness electrical connector and injector connectors, remove injector wiring harness retainers, remove fuel pressure line flange bolts, disconnect pressure line, loosen hose clamp and disconnect fuel return hose, clean debris around injectors, remove fuel rail mounting bolts, gently rock fuel rail and injectors to loosen, remove fuel rail and injectors together, remove fuel rail insulators, remove retaining clip and injector(s) from fuel rail assembly, remove and replace O-rings and seals. On 1.4L, 1.6L, and 2.0L (2014 through 2018) Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) models: Relieve fuel system pressure, remove intake manifold, remove foam fuel injector insulator, disconnect fuel rail feed pipe, disconnect fuel rail pressure sensor's electrical connector on 1.6L and 2.0L GDI models, remove fuel rail mounting bolts, remove rail and injectors as an assembly, disconnect fuel injector electrical connectors, remove injector retaining clips and separate injectors from fuel rail. For installation: On all MPI models, coat new O-rings with clean engine oil, install them on injectors, insert injectors into corresponding fuel rail bores, install retaining clips, install injector insulators, install injector and fuel rail assembly onto the intake manifold, fully seat injectors, tighten fuel rail mounting bolts, connect the fuel return hose to the fuel return line, ensure a tight hose clamp, connect the fuel pressure line flange bolts securely, connect electrical connectors to each injector using numbered tags as a reference, connect the main injector harness connector, and connect the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator. On all GDI models, replace all mounting bolts, retaining clips, and O-rings, install new Teflon sealing rings into clean injector bore, lubricate injector O-rings with clean engine oil before inserting into fuel rail (do not apply oil to Teflon sealing rings), install fuel rail and injector assembly into cylinder head, install new fuel rail mounting bolts and tighten, complete installation in reverse. For all models, connect negative battery cable, turn ignition switch to ON (activating fuel pump for about two seconds to build fuel pressure), repeat 2-3 times, then check fuel lines, fuel rail, and injectors for fuel leakage.
