Q: How to replace Fog Light Bulb and exterior or interior light bulbs on Hyundai Sonata?
A: In order to change the exterior light bulbs, first, remove the headlight housing to get access to the front turn signal, parking, and side marker bulbs; these lights can be unscrewed by turning the bulb holder anti-clockwise and then pulled out straight. For fog lamp bulbs, first, the front bumper cover or plastic inner fender liners have to be taken off, then the electrical connector has to be disconnected and finally the bulb holder has to be twisted anti clock wise to remove it. For the center high-mounted brake light on 2010 and earlier models-open the luggage compartment, disconnect the wiring, strip the access hole and after that, remove the screws, and insert the new bulb. For 2011 and later models, what is required is the removal of the rear seat and what is referred to as the package tray and then procedure requires disconnection of the electrical connection of the assembly as well as unclipping of the brake. For bulb replacement of rear brake/tail, turn signal, brake, and back-up light bulbs, first, open the trunk and then remove the cover provided to the taillight assembly and by rotating the bulb holder anti-clockwise in its position replace the bulb. Regarding license plate light bulbs, use a flat tool to pry the outer edge of the lens away while replacing the bulb and then snapping the lens into place. Regarding the replacement of interior light bulbs, one has to pry the dome light lens, lift it to access the bulb and re-attach the lens. For the glove box light one has to remove the lens, put new light bulb and put the lens cover back. As for the map light, remove the rear lens by prying off, then take out the bulb, and then place the lens back. Bobbing up for the door warning light, the upper edge of the lens has to be pried out before replacing the bulb as well as restoring the lens back into its position.
