To begin, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. For 1986 through 1989 models, disconnect the washer hoses, remove the wiper arms and cowl trim retaining screws or clips, then detach the trim for access to the motor. Separate the link rod from the wiper motor crank arm, unscrew the crank arm nut, and remove the crank arm. Loosen the three wiper motor mounting bolts without removing them, then remove the upper motor mounting bracket screws and lower mounting bracket screws to take out the mounting bracket and motor as a single assembly, disconnecting the electrical connector.
