For 2005 and earlier models, the turn signal switches consist of two separate units connected to a central housing around the steering column. The left switch manages the headlights and turn signals, while the right switch controls the windshield washer and wiper system, both of which can be replaced independently. Begin by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal, then remove the steering wheel along with the upper and lower steering column covers. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the switch, remove the three mounting screws, and lift off the switch. Installation follows the reverse order of removal. If the clockspring is not centered, turn the hub until it stops, then rotate in the opposite direction, counting the turns to the stop, divide that number by two, and turn back approximately that many turns until the neutral position indicator aligns with its mark. For 2006 and later models, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal and removing the steering column covers. Each side of the turn signal switch can be removed independently by disconnecting the wiring harness, pushing in the lock pin, and pulling the switch out. Installation is again the reverse of removal.
