The hood is very hard to detach and attach so I quiet recommend that this operation should be done by two people. First of all, remove the grille and taking several blankets or pads and put them on the fenders and cowl for cushioning the body and paints during the lifting. Any cables or wires that are in the way or hampers the removal process such as the windshield washer tubing should be detached. Put some points around the door hood hinges to help in realigning it when reopening the door hood again. With an assistant helping to hold one side of the hood, switch back and forth in tightening the hinge-to-hood bolts and lifting the hood up, holding it up with your shoulder. For installation, the hinge bolts should be positioned over the earlier made marks. Tightening or loosening the bolts give the movable space for the hood to go up and down and side to side in the hinge plate slots. If this has not already been carried out, then encircle the entire hinge plate with a particular view to establishing the required amount of its movement. Slightly unscrew the bolts, move the hood into the proper position, and then slightly tighten the hinge bolts to escort you in lowering the hood to check the position. In case any require, even the complete hood latch assembly can be shifted up and down and side to side on the radiator support so that the hood can easily close and perfectly hug the fenders. Place a mark around the hood latch mounting bolts for Identification purposes, remove the bolts and shift the latch assembly to where it is required and tighten the bolts again. Last of all align the front hood bumpers on the radiator support and that would make the hood align properly to the fenders when closed and in regard to the maintenance; it is advisable to lubricate the props of the hood and the latches with white lithium-base grease from time to time to avoid wear and binding.
