    Q:
How to remove and install the lower and upper oil pans on V6 Hyundai Sonata? Posted by Customer
    A:
The oil pan is a two-piece assembly with an aluminum casting integrating the cylinder block/transaxle as well as a lower stamped steel pan panel. Below are the instructions on how to undertake the removal of the lower oil pan; Start by loosening the cable that is connected to the negative terminal of the battery After this, you will need to lift the car to a reasonable height through the help of a jack and also support it through the use of jackstands. Anyways have the engine splash shields pulled off, the engine oil that is present drained and the lower steel pan that is attached to the engine should have its bolts remove. If the pan is stuck, tap gently on the pan with a small screwdriver or a putty knife; avoid to gouge the surfaces where the pan meets the block; this must be done to minimize oil leakage. For installation, remove all the old sealant on the block and oil pan surfaces and clean the area where the two connect, also, examine the flange of the steel pan for distortion and, if found, flex it to level. Squirt a continuous thin line of RTV sealant to the pan and the pan has to be installed within 5 minutes of squirting the RTV sealant, it is required that the bolts are tightened in a sequence and do not operate the vehicle for at least 2 hours before another oil is added with a new oil filter. Bare the upper oil pan as follows: bere the lower oil pan, and the oil filter; if necessary, sever the exhaust pipe connection to both exhaust manifolds, and clear other interference items. Next, unbolt the lower baffle when access is available, and when performing 2.5L and 2.7 L engine models remove the oil pump strainer/pickup tube then use the head of a plastic hammer to gently loosen the upper oil pan. To install, first, clean all the surfaces that will come in contact with the sealing surfaces, secondly check the crack on the oil pump pick-up/Strainer assembly, thirdly apply one bead of 3/16 inches width of RTV sealant at the edge of the aluminum pan section while making sure that you install the pan before the sealant sets at 5 minutes. Place the pan in its proper location on the engine block, place bolts in place, and torque according to the marked sequence and let the seal to cure for no less than two hours before refilling new oil and an arbitrary oil filter. Lastly, turn on the car engine and look for the vibrations, oil pressure and look for signs of oil leakage.

    Q:
How do you detach the upper oil pan for the 2002 Hyundai Sonata? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the bolts and detach the upper oil pan. Note the locations of the different size bolts. If the pan is stuck, pry it loose very carefully with a small screwdriver or putty knife, ensuring not to damage the sealing surfaces to prevent oil leaks.
