When the turn signal and hazard flasher is functioning properly, a clicking sound is audible during operation. If the turn signals fail on one side and the flasher unit does not produce its characteristic clicking sound, or if a bulb on one side flashes much faster than normal while the corresponding bulb on the same side does not light, a turn signal bulb is likely faulty. If both turn signals do not blink, the issue may be a blown fuse, a faulty flasher unit, a defective switch, or a loose or open connection. A quick check of the fuse box can reveal a blown turn signal fuse, and it is advisable to inspect the wiring for a short before replacing the fuse. For 2005 and earlier models, the turn signal and hazard flasher are found in the instrument panel relay box; removal involves taking out the hazard relay or flasher unit, ensuring the replacement unit matches the original, and reinstalling it in reverse order. In 2006 through 2010 models, the relay is located under the left side of the instrument panel above the junction box, and it can be pulled straight out, possibly requiring the release of a plastic tang. Again, the replacement must be identical to the original, and installation follows the reverse of removal. For models from 2010 and later, the hazard flasher/relay is integrated into the instrument panel control module located under the driver side of the instrument panel.
