Before extricating the tie-rod, apply the following procedure-unscrew the wheel lug nuts, elevate the front part of the car, support the automobile on jackstands, block the rear wheels and engage the parking brake-and then dismantle the front wheel. Then, use a wrench to grasp the tie-rod while loosening the jam nut to align a rough indicator of the position of the tie-rod end to the threads; this should be done to make sure that the new tie-rod end will be threaded 'n' number of turns. Undo the cotter pin and then slacken the nut on the stud of the tie-rod end then with the help of puller, the knuckle arm of the tie-rod can be removed then undoing the nut will further disconnect the tie-rod. Loosen the nut from the tie-rod and remove the collars from the tie-rod end. For installation, passing the tie-rod end through the marked position and then fitting the tie-rod stud through the steering knuckle arm; fastening a castle nut at the terminal end of the stud and tightening the same to the recommended torque setting, aside from installing a fresh cotter pin. Tighten the specified washer with even more torque than the original one and screw the wheel and lug nuts and finally turn the lug nuts to the right torque and finally lower the vehicle. Last of all, one should check and, if needed, align the elements again.
