    Q:
How Do You Remove and Install the Clutch Release Cylinder on Hyundai Elantra? Posted by Customer
    A:
Some models are equipped with an anti-theft radio. Before performing a procedure that requires disconnecting the battery, ensure you have the activation code. Begin by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery. For 2000 and earlier models, open the hood, remove the clip and retaining pin, then detach the release cylinder push rod from the clutch release lever. Disconnect the hydraulic line at the release cylinder using a flare-nut wrench, having a small can and rags handy to catch any spilled fluid, and plug the line to prevent excessive fluid loss and contamination. Unscrew the bolts and remove the clutch release cylinder. For 2001 and later models, except 1.6L models, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, then disconnect the hydraulic line at the release cylinder, again using a flare-nut wrench and being prepared for fluid spillage. Remove the two release cylinder mounting bolts and the release cylinder. For 1.6L models, note that the release bearing is integral to the concentric release cylinder and cannot be replaced separately. Locate the fluid hose connection at the concentric release cylinder on the left side of the transaxle, disconnect it, remove the clevis pin, and separate the hose. Remove the transaxle, then the concentric release cylinder mounting bolts and the release cylinder assembly. For installation on all models except 1.6L, lubricate the pocket in the release fork with multi-purpose grease for 2001 and later models. Install the release cylinder on the clutch housing and install the bolts, leaving them a little loose until the hydraulic line filling threads have been started. For 2000 and earlier models, connect the pushrod to the release lever and install the retaining pin, washer, and clip. For 2001 and later models, ensure the pushrod is seated in the release fork pocket. Connect the hydraulic line fitting to the release cylinder using fingers only at this time, then tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque and secure the hydraulic fitting with a flare-nut wrench. For 1.6L models, install the concentric release cylinder over the input shaft on the transaxle, then install the bolts hand tight, ensuring even pressure while tightening to the specified torque. Reinstall the transaxle, connect the fluid hose to the concentric release cylinder, and insert the clevis pin. The installation is the reverse of removal for all models. Check the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir, adding brake fluid conforming to DOT 3 specifications until the level is correct, then bleed the system and recheck the brake fluid level before reconnecting the negative battery cable.

    Q:
How to remove and install the master cylinder and release cylinder on Hyundai Sonata? Posted by Customer
    A:
To service the master cylinder you must remove the clutch fluid through the bleeder screw and make sure it is caught on a container or a rag to prevent any spilling on painted parts. Under the instrument panel, unscrew the cotter pin, washer and clutch clevis pin to release the clutch pushrod from the pedal also remove the clutch tubing from the master cylinder. Loosen and take out the bolts that are fixed on the master cylinder and then detach the master cylinder, while retventing with the wrench the hose nut in case you will be unplugging the flare nut on the tube using the flare nut wrench if need be. For removal just turn everything in oppose direction, open the brake and bleed the system. For cars of a earlier 2005 model, support the vehicle on jackstands, connect the clutch fluid hose to the release cylinder and empty the apparatus into a container. Take out the cotter pin at the end of the shaft on the clevis and slide off the clevis pin, then take off all four mounting bolts and the release cylinder. For removal, reverse it by removing the copper washers from the hose banjo fitting and installing new ones and finally, the process of bleeding system. It should be noted that for the 2006 and later models of the automobiles, the release bearing assembly features a concentric slave cylinder, which means that motorists are likely to have to remove the transaxle to gain access to and tend to the cylinder.

    Q:
How to service the master cylinder and release cylinder on Hyundai Santa Fe? Posted by Customer
    A:
Initial action for 2001 through 2006 models is to open the bleeder screw and allow clutch fluid to run out, and to be careful so as to avoid spilling it since it affects painted parts and is caught in a container or rags. That is followed by unmasking the clutch pushrod from the pedal with the help of a cotter pin, washer, and clevis pin the clutch tubing is disconnected from the master cylinder. Take out the master cylinder mounting bolts and pull it up and away, accompanied by holding the hose nut that comes with a wrench while tightening the flare nut on the tube with a flare nut wrench if needed. Installation on the other hand is done in a sequence that is opposite that of removal and should be bled after. If the master cylinder is bad on the 2007 and newer cars the clutch pedal/ master cylinder assembly has to be replaced as a unit. For servicing the release cylinder in the 2001 through 2006 models, securely jack up the vehicle on jackstands, and then remove the clutch fluid hose from the release cylinder and siphon the contents into a vessel. Pull out the cotter pin in the clevis pin at the extremity of the shaft and take off the clevis pin next to it; unbolt the mounting bolts and take off the release cylinder. As for removal, installation is the complete opposite with due reckoning given to the fact that the copper washers used in the hose banjo fitting will have to be changed, and then the system, will need to be bled. A release bearing assembly for the hydraulic master cilinder includes a concentric release cylinder From model year 2007 on, it is fixed in the transaxle section; the transaxle has to be removed to gain access to this cylinder so the system has to be bled.
