    Q:
How to remove and install a front stabilizer bar link and bushing on Hyundai Sonata? Posted by Customer
    A:
If a sway bar becomes damaged, it is likely due to a severe accident affecting other major components, necessitating the services of an auto body shop. To remove the sway bar, first loosen the front wheel lug nuts, raise the front of the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands before removing the front wheels. Disconnect the sway bar links from the bar or lower control arms. For models from 2006 to 2010, place a floor jack under the rear of the subframe, remove the two rear subframe mounting bolts, and lower the subframe slightly for clearance. Detach both sway bar bushing retainers from the subframe. For models from 2011 and later, remove the universal joint-to-steering gear mounting bolt, disconnect the tie-rod end from the knuckle, and disconnect the lower arms from the knuckles. Also, disconnect the exhaust rubber hanger and lower the exhaust. Support the engine from above and remove the engine front roll stopper mount. Using two floor jacks, support the subframe and remove all mounting bolts, then lower it for access to the sway bar mounting bolts. Remove the sway bar mounting bolts and the sway bar itself, followed by the bushings, noting their positions, and then remove the sway bar link nut to detach the link. For installation, inspect the retainer bushings and replace if cracked or worn, and check the sway bar links for loose ballstuds. Clean the bushing area of the sway bar, lubricate the new bushings with vegetable oil, and install the retainers and bolts, tightening them to the specified torque. Finally, install the links and tighten the link nuts to the specified torque.

    Q:
How do you replace a damaged front stabilizer bar link and Bushing on Hyundai Santa Fe? Posted by Customer
    A:
If a sway bar becomes damaged, it is most likely due to a severe accident affecting other major components, necessitating the services of an auto body shop. Begin by loosening the front wheel lug nuts, then raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the front wheels and disconnect the sway bar links from the bar by removing the lower nut; if the strut is being removed or the link replaced, remove the upper nut. Detach both sway bar bushing retainers from the subframe. With the sway bar detached, slide off the retainer bushings and inspect them for cracks, wear, or deterioration, replacing them if necessary. Also, check the sway bar links for loose ballstuds. Clean the bushing area of the sway bar with a stiff wire brush to remove any rust or dirt. Lubricate the inside and outside of the new bushings with vegetable oil to simplify reassembly, avoiding petroleum or mineral-based lubricants or brake fluid, as they can deteriorate the bushings. Install the retainers and bolts, tightening them to the specified torque, and then install the links, tightening the link nuts to the specified torque.

    Q:
How should the areas of the stabilizer bar be prepared for the 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe? Posted by Customer
    A:
Using a wire brush, clean the areas of the bar where the bushings ride. Lubricate the inside and outside of the new bushings with vegetable oil (used in cooking). Caution: Don't use petroleum or mineral-based lubricants or brake fluid - they will lead to deterioration of the bushings.
