For these models, you should begin by loosening the wheel lug nuts, raising the vehicle, and removing the wheel. Remove the cotter pin and loosen the castle nut on the ballstud, then use a two-jaw puller to disengage the ballstud from the lower control arm. Unbolt the balljoint from the steering knuckle, pull down the lower control arm, and remove the balljoint. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring that the balljoint stud nut and the two balljoint-to-steering knuckle bolts are tightened securely, and a new cotter pin is installed in the balljoint stud nut.

Remove the control arm (see Section 7) and take it to an automotive machine shop to have the old one pressed out and the new one pressed in.
